Surrey Independent Midwives was founded by Andrea Dombrowe in 1997 .

As a practice we have experience of births at home, in water, births of first babies, vaginal births after caesarean, providing full midwifery care for multiple pregnancies and to women who have particular complications.  We also work alongside other health specialists in medical and alternative fields where appropriate.

Paramount is a holistic approach to birth.  We all believe in women’s right to birth in a safe and supported environment. All of us fully support keeping the option of homebirth alive. 

Andrea Dombrowe

I love being a midwife, which I have been for over 30 years and independent for 9 years.  I am married with two adult children and enjoy books, films, photography and singing with a large choir.

Jo Bounds

I  have previously worked as a Senior Midwife at Royal Surrey County Hospital and from January 2006, when I decided to become independent, have started to build up my own client base.  

 

Val Clarke

 

I  became an independent midwife in the late 80's. Three years ago my book 'Instinctive Birthing' was published. I am the mother of four grown-up sons and have attended the births of all my six grandchildren.

 

Suzanne Batchelor

I  have been an NHS midwife since 1998 and have recently decided to join the practice. To complement my midwifery training, I have specialised in maternity reflexology and massage since 2000 and I am also qualified in Hypnobirthing©.
